President Gordon B. Hinckley

I find myself thinking of President Hinckley’s passing and the life that he led. He left an indelible mark in the life of many. Both members of the church and not respected him and loved him. He is an amazing example of kindness, love, faithfulness and righteousness. He worked hard to continue the growth of the church and wanted to share the gospel with all those that would have it. What a wonderful man he was. He inspires me to do better. He made a great impact on my life. It is sad that he has passed, but he is in a more exalted place and oh how glorious I imagine it is. It makes me wonder what kind of experiences he is having now as he is being reunited with his wife and other family members, and most of all with Heavenly Father and the Savior. I can't imagine the joy he must be experiencing. I cannot help but feel the true meaning in the words of common hymns such as “God be with you ‘til we meet again” and “We thank thee oh God for a Prophet.” I am so thankful and feel truly blessed to have been a part of the church under his leadership. He will forever be an example to me.

Megan has also expressed her sorrow for his passing…
Upon hearing the news of President Hinckley’s passing Brynne, Sam and I all expressed our sorrow and said how much we loved him. Megan asked what had happened and so
I explained to her that President Hinckley had gone to Heaven to be with Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ and his wife and friends. She quickly said, “But why?” I said because he was getting older and Heavenly Father told him it was time to come home. She said “oh.” I thought I had satisfied her concern. Moments later I heard her in the hall where we have picture of him. She said no Mom; he needs to be here… with us. It’s not time yet. I told her it was okay and that he was happier now. She said, but can we keep his picture up? I told her of course. She said okay and walked off saying President Hinckley loves to be in Heaven.

I love Megan and her innocence. I love her questions and her concerns. She is a wonderful girl that always helps me to remember how wonderful this life is.
